IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Beldah, June 1: Police carried out a prolonged search operation on Monday at the luxurious residence of Trinamool Congress leader Kalpana Sheet in Beldah, West Midnapore. The operation was conducted as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged links with a sand mafia network, following her recent arrest by Kharagpur Town Police in connection with the case.

The police sources, officers from both Kharagpur Town Police Station and Beldah Police Station jointly conducted the search at her residence. Kalpana Sheet, who is currently in custody, was also taken to the location during the operation as part of the investigative procedure. The search took place at her residence located within the Narayangarh Assembly constituency and continued for nearly four hours.

The operation, investigators thoroughly examined different sections of the house and reportedly collected several documents and pieces of evidence relevant to the ongoing probe. Officials stated that the search was conducted to gather additional information related to suspected financial transactions and possible links to illegal sand smuggling activities.

Kalpana Sheet, who is professionally known as a hairstylist, has long been a subject of local discussion due to her lavish residence in the area. Investigators are also examining whether there are any financial connections between her and the alleged sand trafficking network operating in the region.

Kalpana Sheet has strongly denied all allegations against her. She claimed that she has been falsely implicated due to political motives and insisted that she has no involvement in any illegal activities. Her statement has added a political dimension to the case, which continues to draw significant attention in the region.

The incident has created considerable tension and public curiosity in the locality as the investigation continues to unfold, with police maintaining that the probe is still in its early stages and further questioning and evidence collection may follow.
