IIE DIGITAL DESK : Kolkata, April 21: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has once again summoned actress and former Trinamool Congress MP Nusrat Jahan in connection with an old financial fraud case related to alleged cheating in the name of providing flats. The actress has been directed to appear before the ED office at the CGO Complex in Salt Lake on Wednesday for further questioning.
The investigation pertains to a case involving allegations of collecting large sums of money from buyers under the pretext of offering flats in the Rajarhat area of Kolkata. The probe is focused on claims that several individuals were defrauded of significant amounts of money in a housing project-related scam.
Investigators have stated that Nusrat Jahan was associated with the company under scrutiny, where she reportedly held a position as one of the directors. Based on newly obtained documents and additional evidence gathered over the past few months, the agency has decided to question her again to clarify her role and involvement in the matter.
This is not the first time the actress has been questioned in connection with the case. Earlier, she was also summoned and interrogated by the central agency as part of the ongoing investigation. Officials believe that the fresh information now available may provide further clarity regarding the financial transactions under review.
The ED has clarified that this case is unrelated to any ration distribution or wheat smuggling investigations, and no connection has ever been established between Nusrat Jahan and those separate corruption allegations. However, political reactions have emerged following the fresh summons.
Leaders from the Trinamool Congress have alleged that attempts are being made to deliberately link her name to unrelated corruption cases, particularly the ration distribution scam, despite no evidence supporting such claims. The party has maintained that she is being unnecessarily targeted.
Nusrat Jahan will comply with the summons and appear before the ED on Wednesday. The case continues to draw political attention alongside ongoing legal scrutiny, keeping it in focus within West Bengal’s broader investigative and political landscape.
