IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Kolkata, June 29: West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Monday issued a strong warning in the Legislative Assembly to Murshidabad MLA Humayun Kabir of the Am Janata Unnayan Party over his recent controversial and allegedly provocative remarks. Expressing sharp displeasure during the Assembly session, the Chief Minister declared that the time had come to deal with such statements strictly in accordance with the law and made it clear that the state government would not tolerate threats or inflammatory rhetoric.

Referring to Humayun Kabir by name while addressing the House, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari described the MLA's remarks as harmful to society and warned that such irresponsible statements would no longer be allowed.

The Chief Minister said, "Humayun Kabir's statement is extremely harmful to society. We will not allow you to make such reckless and uncontrolled remarks. Nobody has given you such authority. Listen carefully and remember this."

Warning of legal action against the legislator, Suvendu Adhikari further informed the Assembly that two First Information Reports (FIRs) had already been registered against Humayun Kabir in connection with his controversial comments and that the police were proceeding with legal action in accordance with the law.

The Chief Minister also announced that he would be visiting Murshidabad within a week and vowed to demonstrate that the rule of law and the Constitution remain supreme.

He stated, "I am visiting Murshidabad within one week. I will prove that the law and Constitution of India have not ceased to exist. Before making such statements in future, you will think twenty-five times."

Delivering a direct warning to the MLA, Suvendu Adhikari added, "Consider this to be your last provocative statement. You may take that as final."

The confrontation comes in response to remarks made by Humayun Kabir a few days ago during a public meeting at Kashipur in Rejinagar, Murshidabad. Addressing the gathering, Kabir had challenged both the state administration and the Chief Minister in strongly worded comments.

Humayun Kabir reportedly said, "The day I lose my temper, I will not care about the Superintendent of Police, the Chief Minister or anyone else. I will not care who is where."

He also claimed that he had personally conveyed a message to Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, saying, "You have won the election, your party has formed the government, that is fine. But tell your people to reduce their aggression in Murshidabad."

The controversy intensified further when Kabir allegedly made another highly provocative statement, declaring, "The day I bring Muslims onto the streets, I will launch such an attack that you will not find anyone left to carry the BJP flag."

The remarks immediately drew widespread criticism and triggered political reactions across the state, with opposition leaders accusing the MLA of making inflammatory and communal statements.

The Chief Minister now responding directly from the floor of the Legislative Assembly and confirming that criminal cases have already been initiated, the controversy has assumed greater political significance. The exchange has further intensified the political atmosphere in Murshidabad, Malda and across West Bengal, with both the legal proceedings and the political fallout expected to remain under close public and administrative scrutiny in the coming days.
