Winning the Beleghata Assembly seat, Ghosh admitted that he was deeply saddened by the party's defeat. Reflecting on the election outcome, he wrote that the joy of his personal victory was overshadowed by the loss of the government. However, he said that with the passage of time, he now believes the result may ultimately benefit the party.
In his post, Ghosh wrote, "After the Trinamool Congress government lost power, I felt bad. It is natural to feel that way when your own party loses. Even my victory in Beleghata could not bring me much happiness. But today I feel that what happened was actually for the better."
The Trinamool leader went on to identify those whom he believes were most affected by the party's defeat. According to him, had the party returned to power, several opportunists and individuals with criminal tendencies would have continued to dominate the organisation. In one of the strongest remarks of his post, Ghosh alleged that "those who betrayed the party would once again have surrounded Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee pretending to be loyalists, while opportunists would have continued to pose as trusted friends."
He further launched a scathing attack on certain elements within the party, stating, "Some thieves and criminals, who are now pretending to be saints in order to protect themselves, would have continued their unchecked corruption. The arrogance and ego of certain individuals within the party would have grown even further." He also claimed that some criminal elements who had entered the party would have continued to intimidate not only opposition parties but even sections of the Trinamool Congress itself.
Ghosh also criticised what he described as the growing influence of apolitical celebrities who, according to him, enjoyed the privileges associated with public representatives without contributing to organisational work. He further alleged that certain sections of the police, bureaucracy and intellectual circles had used the party for their personal interests while hiding behind respectable public images.
The newly elected MLA argued that genuine grassroots workers, dedicated organisers and loyal supporters had long remained neglected while the party was in power. According to him, these committed workers were often forced to remain on the "back benches" with disappointment and frustration as others enjoyed influence and authority.
Expressing optimism about the future, Ghosh said the election result, despite taking away political power, had helped the party identify who its true well-wishers were. He wrote that with Mamata Banerjee continuing to lead the organisation and genuine party workers standing firmly behind her, the Trinamool Congress would continue its political struggle.
"Mamata Banerjee remains above all. It is the genuine workers who truly love the party and will carry it forward. The excess has been removed, and more is being removed. Although we are passing through a difficult period, this test of time will ultimately make the party stronger for the future."
Concluding his post, Ghosh sought to encourage party workers while sending a message to political opponents. He said that standing against power-driven opportunism requires courage and conviction, adding that "the people are watching everything, and ultimately, their judgment is the final verdict."
Kunal Ghosh's candid and introspective remarks, coming from a senior Trinamool Congress leader in the aftermath of the party's defeat, have triggered fresh political debate in West Bengal. His comments are being viewed as one of the strongest public acknowledgements of internal dissatisfaction within the party and have added a new dimension to discussions surrounding the Trinamool Congress's future course after its electoral setback.
