Speaking to journalists in Etah, Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday morning, Akhilesh Yadav said, “Trinamool has lost, and now the BJP government wants to break the party completely. The BJP may use different institutions, false cases, or threats to achieve its goal, but the people of Uttar Pradesh are prepared to give them a fitting reply in the upcoming elections.”
When asked about reports of a possible alliance or merger between the Trinamool Congress and the Congress, the Samajwadi Party chief said that he had no information regarding the matter. However, he added that the path the BJP was following could eventually lead to a similar fate for the ruling party as well.
It is noteworthy that an FIR was registered against former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the Hare Street Police Station following a written complaint over a statement she allegedly made during the campaign for the Assembly elections. Acting on the complaint, the police registered the case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to allegations of spreading hatred, provocation, intimidation, and disturbing public peace.
The development has further intensified the political confrontation between the BJP and opposition parties, with leaders from different political camps reacting strongly to the legal action and its possible impact on the political landscape ahead of the upcoming elections.
