IIE DIGITAL DESK; Nabadwip, June 1: The handing over of keys to a Trinamool Congress party office in Nabadwip, Nadia, to the Bharatiya Janata Party has created significant political stir in the region. Observers note that the incident, which took place in Ward No. 12 of the town on Monday, may indicate the emergence of a new political dynamic.
Local sources reported that recently the Nabadwip municipal chairman and councillor of Ward No. 12, Biman Krishna Saha, was arrested in connection with multiple allegations, including corruption. Following his arrest, political activity in the area began to shift, with the local Trinamool Congress office remaining largely inactive. Residents stated that ever since the election results were declared, the party office had remained closed, limiting the public’s access to address civic issues.
Monday, a group of local Trinamool workers and supporters voluntarily unlocked the party office and handed over responsibility to the BJP leadership. According to them, the decision was made in the interest of the public and to ensure that developmental work and citizen services continued uninterrupted in the area. They emphasized that the office had remained closed for an extended period, preventing residents from raising or resolving local issues.
BJP officials claimed that the office will now function as a center for public service activities and community outreach. No official response has yet been issued by the Trinamool Congress regarding this incident.
The transfer of the office has already become a topic of intense discussion among political circles in Nabadwip, with analysts observing potential implications for local governance and the upcoming political landscape. The event is seen as a notable shift in political engagement in Ward No. 12, and both parties are closely monitoring public reaction as the situation develops.
The development highlights the evolving nature of local politics in Nabadwip, as parties position themselves to address citizen needs and consolidate influence ahead of future electoral and civic activities.
