
IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Hooghly, June 3: The official launch of the state government’s Annapurna Yojana took place in Pursurah block of Hooghly district. On Wednesday, during a programme held at the Pursurah BDO office, certificates under the scheme were distributed to beneficiaries by Pursurah MLA Biman Ghosh.
The scheme was inaugurated across the state virtually by the Chief Minister earlier in the day. As part of the state-wide programme, the initiative was formally launched in the Pursurah block. During the event, the MLA interacted with women beneficiaries and explained various aspects of the scheme.
Biman Ghosh stated that the state government has introduced this scheme to ensure food security for common and marginalised people. He added that the administration and elected representatives are working together to ensure that the benefits of people-centric welfare schemes reach people in remote areas as well.
Administrative officials said that through the Annapurna Yojana, eligible beneficiaries will receive various food-related benefits. It is expected that the scheme will further strengthen food security for many families.
Officials from the block administration, local representatives, and beneficiaries were present at the programme. The launch of the scheme created an atmosphere of enthusiasm and happiness among the beneficiaries.
