IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Howrah, June 11: The Amta block of Howrah district after police recovered a large quantity of liquor bottles and bombs during a search operation at a government building in Anulia village under Pera Police Station limits. The incident has triggered panic among local residents as well as raised several questions regarding how such materials were stored inside a government facility.

The search operation was conducted on Wednesday following intelligence inputs suggesting that explosives and a large stock of liquor were being stored inside a room of the government-run “Karmatyirtha” building in Anulia village. Acting on the information, officers from Pera Police Station had been monitoring the premises for several days before carrying out the raid.

Police reportedly discovered hundreds of liquor bottles along with several sacks containing crude bombs stored inside a shuttered room within the building. The recovery has shocked local residents, who have expressed concern over the misuse of a government infrastructure meant for public welfare and employment generation.

The Karmatyirtha building was constructed as part of a government initiative aimed at creating employment opportunities for unemployed youth in the area. The facility houses multiple shop units, some of which are currently operational. However, the discovery of explosives and large quantities of alcohol within the premises has sparked anger and concern among villagers, who are demanding a thorough investigation into how such materials were stored in a government property.

Police officials have confirmed that the origin of the seized items and the identity of those responsible for storing them are currently under investigation. Authorities are examining all possible angles, including whether the building was being misused by local criminal elements or involved in illegal storage activities.

The incident has also sparked political speculation in the region, with local discussions intensifying over possible negligence or misuse of government infrastructure. However, police have stated that no arrests have been made so far, and investigations are ongoing to identify the individuals involved and determine the full extent of the case.

Further inquiry is underway, and officials are expected to take strict action once responsibility is established in connection with the recovery.
