Acting on local protests, the administration conducted multiple searches in the presence of officials, and claims of recovered tarpaulins have further intensified the dispute in political circles.
The day residents intercepted a vehicle loaded with government relief materials near Dargatala area. Questions were raised regarding the destination of the consignment. The situation was temporarily brought under control after officials produced documents issued under the instruction of the District Magistrate, clarifying the movement of goods.
Protesters later demanded searches at a godown and garage allegedly linked to Sankrail MLA Priya Pal. Acting on public pressure, the administration first conducted a search at a godown in Sarenga Darjipara. Locals claimed that several tarpaulins were recovered from the premises, further escalating tensions.
Subsequently, another search was carried out at a garage in the Hirapara area, where additional tarpaulins were reportedly found. The allegations have triggered political debate and heightened scrutiny over the storage and distribution of government relief materials in the region.
Later, protesters gathered outside the MLA’s residence demanding further inspection. The situation was brought under control after intervention by the administration and central forces. During a search of an adjacent room, several sacks of party flags were reportedly recovered, according to sources.
The MLA was available regarding the allegations. Authorities stated that they are closely monitoring the situation as investigations continue into the matter.
