IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Murshidabad, June 12: The expansion work of National Highway 168 (Economic Corridor) from Morgram to Kharagpur, which is expected to further strengthen connectivity between South Bengal and North Bengal. The road passes through Khargram, Manigram, and Morgram in Murshidabad district. As part of the development project, 89.8164 acres of land spanning a 6.01-kilometre stretch has been officially handed over to the National Highways Authority.

Murshidabad District Magistrate R. Arjun stated that this crucial parcel of land required for road construction has been transferred to Satyam Pal, Project Director of the Bardhaman National Highway Authority. According to administrative sources, the district administration is working with urgency to complete the land acquisition process at the earliest possible time. Earlier, 251.22 acres of land covering approximately 16 kilometres had already been handed over for this mega infrastructure project. With the addition of the new land, construction work on the highway is expected to accelerate further.

Project Director Satyam Pal of the Bardhaman National Highway Authority outlined the project framework, stating that National Highway 168 will extend approximately 230 kilometres from Kharagpur to Morgram. The highway is being developed as a major economic corridor aimed at improving trade, transport, and regional connectivity. The route will pass through six districts of West Bengal, with Khargram, Manigram, and Morgram in Murshidabad serving as key junction points in this important infrastructure network.
