
IIE DIGITAL DESK : Kolkata, March 21: Suvendu Adhikari, visited the revered Kalighat Kali Temple on Saturday morning, where he offered prayers and sought blessings for the well-being of the people. The temple, one of the most significant religious sites in Kolkata, witnessed the presence of the senior BJP leader as he performed rituals and interacted with devotees.
After offering prayers to Goddess Kali, Adhikari expressed his wishes for the prosperity and welfare of all citizens. He stated that he prayed for strength and guidance so that he could work for the betterment of the state under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Emphasizing his political commitment, he added that he hopes to receive divine blessings to continue serving the people of West Bengal.
Adhikari also engaged with local residents and devotees outside the temple, listening to their concerns and exchanging greetings. The visit took a political turn when he was asked about posters of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee displayed near the temple premises. Responding to the query, he alleged that such displays could be a violation of the model code of conduct and suggested that the matter should be addressed by the Election Commission.
Adhikari further claimed that there is a growing demand for change in West Bengal, asserting that people across communities, including religious leaders and devotees, are extending their support. He spoke about what he described as a wave of transformation in the state and emphasized the need to protect cultural and traditional values.
The BJP leader also made strong political statements regarding issues of identity and governance, asserting that a sense of unity among people who believe in nationalism and cultural heritage would shape the future political landscape of the state. His visit to the temple thus combined religious observance with pointed political messaging, reflecting the charged atmosphere in West Bengal’s political arena.
