IIE DIGITAL DESK :  West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has called upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi to rein in Union Home Minister Amit Shah, accusing him of exacerbating unrest in the state through the dissemination of misinformation and the misuse of central agencies.

Speaking at a conference of imams and muezzins at Netaji Indoor Stadium, Banerjee criticized Shah for allegedly spreading false information via technology and for the Border Security Force's (BSF) involvement in recent disturbances. She labeled the incidents of violence in West Bengal as "planned" and suggested that Shah's actions were contributing to the state's instability.

Banerjee also questioned the urgency behind the implementation of the amended Waqf Act, especially in the context of the current situation in neighboring Bangladesh. She implied that the rapid enactment of the law, without adequate consultation, was causing unnecessary tension in the region.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister criticized other political figures, including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the chief ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Bihar, for their roles in supporting the central government's policies. She called for greater unity among opposition parties under the 'INDIA' alliance to counteract the ruling party's actions.

Banerjee's remarks have intensified the ongoing political discourse in West Bengal, highlighting the friction between the state and central governments. Her appeal to Prime Minister Modi underscores the escalating tensions and the need for dialogue to address the concerns of the state's leadership.
