IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Kolkata | June 24, 2026 : Senior BJP leader and minister Dilip Ghosh once again launched a sharp attack on the Trinamool Congress, commenting on the ongoing internal disputes within the ruling party and asserting that its decline would be beneficial for the people of West Bengal. His remarks came amid a growing controversy surrounding the party’s election symbol, a dispute that has reportedly reached the Election Commission and sparked intense political debate.

Wednesday, Ghosh described the controversy as an internal matter of the Trinamool Congress and said the issues regarding leadership, factional alignments, and organizational identity would ultimately be examined by the appropriate authorities.

“This is entirely an internal issue of the Trinamool Congress. Questions regarding who the leader is, what role different individuals play, which faction or group they belong to, and even issues related to the identity of those groups will be examined by the Election Commission. The matter is also being discussed in the Assembly, and the Speaker will review it as required,” Ghosh said.

He further claimed that ordinary citizens are largely unconcerned about the internal conflicts affecting the ruling party and are instead focused on governance and public welfare. According to him, many people believe that the quicker the party loses its political influence, the better it would be for the state.

“Common people are not worried about these internal disputes. What they feel is that the faster this party declines, the better it will be for West Bengal,” he remarked.

The BJP leader also commented on reports concerning the recovery of gold from the residence of a woman Trinamool Congress leader who is considered close to senior TMC leader Sabyasachi Dutta. Referring to the incident, Ghosh alleged that several leaders associated with the ruling party possess enormous wealth and assets accumulated over the years.

Trinamool leaders own significant amounts of money, residential properties, land holdings, and extensive tracts of land. He further alleged that some of these properties had been acquired through forceful occupation, although he did not provide specific evidence while making the claim.

“There are many Trinamool leaders who possess enormous wealth. They own large amounts of money, flats, land, and even vast stretches of property. Allegations have also been made that some of these lands were occupied forcibly. Many of them still have large quantities of gold, valuables, and cash stored in their homes that they could not move elsewhere. Now those assets are gradually coming to light,” Ghosh stated.

Legal agencies would continue their investigations and that anyone found involved in wrongdoing would eventually face scrutiny under the law. Emphasizing the role of investigative authorities, he said no individual would remain beyond the reach of legal processes.

“The law will ultimately reach everyone. Those against whom allegations exist will have to face investigation, and the truth will emerge through the legal process,” he said.

The remarks are likely to intensify the ongoing political confrontation between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Trinamool Congress ahead of future electoral battles in West Bengal. The latest controversy has once again brought internal tensions within the ruling party and allegations of corruption into the center of the state's political discourse, with opposition leaders continuing to target the Trinamool leadership over issues of accountability and governance.
