Meteorologists have advised residents to remain cautious, particularly during periods of intense thunderstorms, as strong winds and lightning activity may affect transportation, outdoor activities, and daily commuting. Authorities are closely monitoring the evolving weather situation as the monsoon remains active across the region.
North Bengal, adverse weather conditions are expected to continue despite indications that the intensity may gradually reduce towards the end of the week. However, weather officials have clarified that rainfall is unlikely to stop completely, and several districts will continue to remain vulnerable to heavy precipitation.
Tuesday, very heavy rainfall is forecast for the districts of Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, Cooch Behar, and Alipurduar. Heavy rainfall is also expected in both North Dinajpur and South Dinajpur districts. The remaining districts of North Bengal are also likely to experience widespread rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds.
The weather department has further issued a heavy rainfall alert for Wednesday covering Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, Cooch Behar, and Alipurduar. Continuous rainfall in these districts may lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas, disruption of road transport, and an increased risk of landslides in the hilly regions, prompting authorities to advise residents and travellers to remain alert and follow official weather advisories.
With active monsoon conditions prevailing across both North and South Bengal, weather officials expect periodic spells of rain to continue over the coming days.
