General meeting of the Ayodhya Bar Association was held on Monday, during which Association President Kalika Prasad Mishra addressed members and delivered a stern message concerning the high-profile case. The meeting focused on the allegations of misappropriation of donations collected at the Ram Temple and the legal response of the local bar.
The meeting, Kalika Prasad Mishra stated that no lawyer should represent the accused in the case. He further announced that if any advocate chooses to appear on behalf of the accused, the individual would face a penalty of ₹5 lakh, as decided during the meeting of the legal fraternity.
The announcement comes amid heightened public attention over the alleged theft of donations from one of the country's most revered religious sites. The association's stand reflects the strong sentiments surrounding the case in Ayodhya, where the Ram Temple holds immense religious and cultural significance.
The issue was also discussed during a meeting of the Faizabad Bar Association on Monday. Members deliberated on the alleged embezzlement of temple donations before expressing support for a firm approach toward the matter.
The decision recalls a similar stand taken by lawyers in Ayodhya in 2005. At that time, members of the legal fraternity had resolved not to represent those arrested in connection with the terrorist attack on the Ram Temple. The latest announcement has drawn comparisons with that earlier resolution, highlighting the exceptional nature of cases involving the temple.
The alleged donation theft case remains under investigation, and the accused are facing legal proceedings in accordance with the law. The statement issued by the Ayodhya Bar Association has added a new dimension to the case, raising questions about legal representation while also generating debate within legal and public circles. The matter is expected to remain under close scrutiny as the investigation progresses and judicial proceedings move forward.
